Install Mantle
Mantle runs on a machine you own. One line installs it on a Linux server and asks how people reach it. Pick the way that fits you below.
curl -fsSL https://raw.githubusercontent.com/crossworks-engineering/mantle/main/install.sh | bash- A Linux server with Docker Engine and the Compose plugin.
- 8 GB of RAM for the full stack, 4 GB for the small core shape.
- 20 GB of free disk. The first pull is about 2 GB.
- One model provider key (OpenRouter). You paste it into the setup wizard, never into a file.
Six ways to run it
Each one is a few lines here and a full page in the docs.
A server with a domain
The usual choice. Run the line above on a Linux server, pick "a domain with HTTPS" and give it your domain. Caddy gets the certificate by itself. Reachable from anywhere, always on.
A server on your network
The same line, without a domain. Pick "this machine’s network" and Mantle answers on plain HTTP at the server’s address, for use at home or over a VPN.
A small server
The core shape fits 2 vCPU and 4 GB of RAM. It keeps memory, file ingest, the API and MCP, and leaves out the email and Telegram workers. The installer offers it on a small box.
Headless
A brain with no web screens, driven by MCP or the API only. One flag at install time.
The desktop app
Jackdaw for Linux, macOS and Windows. It opens a brain that is already installed; it does not install one.
From source
For working on Mantle itself: the brain from a git checkout on your own machine, with the UI from the jackdaw repository.
Then sign in
The installer prints the address and a setup code. Open the address, create your login with the code, and the setup wizard asks for your key.
